Should I Fire It

I picked up an exceptionally clean 1990 Mk II 51/2" Bull Barrel Stainless; Original yellow box, etc. Once I got it home, I am convinced it has never been fired. There was an orange warning sticker inside the magazine. Paid $240.

Now the question is -- should I fire it or put it away.

Simple answer.. Yes... Why keep it all your life and never enjoy it. It's value will never go up enough to make you a rich man. Guns are made to shoot and pictures to look at. I was told that at a very early age and have believed in it all my life. Good luck.

Hi,

Shoot the heck out of it.

I'm gonna step on some toes saying this, but it's JUST a Ruger! Which means it's a mass produced product meant to be USED.

I'd rather buy a "potential" collector piece and lose a buck cuz I shot it, than buy something I "think" might be worth a buck later, not use and enjoy it, then find out I was wrong in my "investment" mentality.

But that's me. It's your gun to do w/ as makes you happy!

Yep, nothin' sadder than a gun sitting idle while someone thinks they're going to make some kind of market killing on a commodity firearm. Even if it did appreciate in value it's not like it's going to pay your kid's college tuition.

I figure I might as well shoot my guns. When I'm gone my kids will either shoot them, or sell them to someone who will. I might as well do it right the first time. :lol:

Of course if it has collector value you could sell it, and use the money to buy the same gun without collector value, and use the leftover money for ammo. Then someone else can let the thing retain value in THEIR safe while you are out shooting up the free ammo.

My thoughts exactly. Besides, my whole reason for buying guns is 'cause I like to shoot 'em. If I just wanted to look at them I'd save a lot of money by buying models.

I agree, shoot it and enjoy. If it was an old Colt or a Luger, that would be a different story.

Same question re: Bearcat 50th, seems the factory embellishments will be destroyed by shooting the gun.
