Shooting 38 special cartridges in 357 magnum revolver

I have bought used guns with crud rings in the chambers. Once I got them clean no more issues. I remember using spent .357 cases to start the process. Then going to the brush on a drill.

I usually I start with .38's then switch to .357's at the end of the session. It seems to self clean the ring as long as its fresh.

My revolvers with titanium cylinders only ever see .357 magnums. You have to be careful when cleaning them to not damage the coating. So a brush on a drill is not an option.
