Service Six rubber grips

Hey guys. I purchased some rubber grips for my Service Six, the same ones shown in the link below. The grips fit and work well except the two halves don't quite meet on the backstrap. I think these are the Sile grips without the Ruger medallion, they are made in Italy. I see that Ruger now has some original rubber grips with the medallion on their website. Do the OEM rubber grips tend to fit really well? Is there a way to close the gap on the grips I've already purchased? Sorry for the dumb questions, I just think an awesome revolver deserves good looking grips!!

I bought two pairs of the rubber grips from the Ruger store. Although when you receive them and they are mated, they don't come completely together at lower end of the trailing edge of the back strap. Aside from that, and a blemish on the butt, they look and feel great. I have tried them on two of my Sixes; one Security Six and the Service Six you see here:

You may get them to fit better with some very careful milling on the inside. That is, chalk the grip frame and install the grips. Remove the grips and grind down the high points indicated by chalk on the inside of the grips.

Thanks Hugh. My grips are very comfortable to hold and look good except for that irritating gap. I'm going to try sanding down the inside of them tonight. I'm something of a perfectionist when it comes to grips, they have to look good as well as feel good to make me happy!!

The Ruger OEM rubbers are made by Sile. They feel a lot better when they are broken in, I have 3 sets that had been on security trade in Service Sixes and the corners had been rounded from constant handling and they feel great! Just don't overtighten them, the skeleton is plastic not metal like the Pachmayrs. The plastic inside one of my well used grips was already cracked.

Thanks guys. I did sand the inside of the grips quite a bit last night with little improvement. Not wanting to weaken the grips with more sanding, I used automotive molding tape (the sticky black kind) to fill in the gaps. They look way better now.
