I was on a Facebook Page today about Memphis tales of yore and mentioned a story about a clock.
Many years ago my cousin's husband repaired clocks, I think as a hobby. He got the big clock when the old railroad station here was torn down. This the old Union Station. And he made it into a coffee table. My cousin died young and I sort of lost track of her husband. As I wrote on Facebook, I learned her widower had died, also his son had died some years back, and that the clock was still in the family, my cousin's grandson. After some sleuthing, got in contact and located some distant cousins Inever even knew about until today.
Here is the clock:
As I understand it, the clock would not run mechanically in the horizontal position, but he rigged up an electric motor to made it keep time.
