security six frame size?

I am looking for a holster for a 2 3/4'' security six. How close is the frame to a GP-100 or which S&W frame is similar? There aren't many options out there for the old SS. I am not at all familiar with S&W and havn't had a GP-100 in years so I need a little help from you guys.

My 4" SS fits well in a Colt Python Holster that I have even though it is a little smaller.

K frame holsters are similiar and will usually work.

Rugerjunkie, I just bought a Galco #FL112 holster for my 2-3/4" Security Six that was listed for a Smith & Wesson k-frame. I also recently acquired a Bianchi #5BH holster, also listed for a S&W k-frame, for my 4" Security Six. The fit is spot on for both of them. I hope this helps.

As stated by 2 gentlemen above..... holsters for the S&W K-frame will fit the Security-Six.

Don Hume still has a holster in his line up for the SS.

Correct. GP is same size as L-Frame S&W, like the 586/686.

OK. Thanks again guys. I had a fobus roto paddle for an SP101 and really liked it. I rarely wear a belt and I used to carry the SP loaded with shot while out fishing. I was hoping it was close enough to the GP so I could go that route again. Anyone interested in a fobus paddle for a GP-100 if its too big for a SS?? :mrgreen:

S&W K-Frame seems to be probably what would work best for your Ruger Six series. The SP series is another issue.

I know the SP is totally different. I was commenting on the set up I used to have and would like to carry the Security Six the same way.
