My wife gave me a Security 380 for Christmas. I've had it to the range twice. Used Blazer Aluminum, PMC, Winchester and Freedom Munitions. The only ammo I didn't like was the Freedom Munitions 100gr rn fp. Had so much crap blowing back at me it was like a sandstorm. My son had the same problem with his small 380. I believe that is the purpose of eye wear when shooting for those that don't do it. Freedom Munitions 100 gr hp shot just fine. Overall 200 rounds and not a problem and my 72 year old repaired wrist says thank you. Working on getting used to the gun before I work on accuracy. Any input on ammo experiences would be appreciated.

Great Sub compact pistol .. carried mine today

Hmm, no shaving like that with my Security 380. You may have some sort of factory problem such as a sharp edge. Ruger may be able to help. My two Taurus 380s don't have the problem either.

Sounds like an ammo problem to me.... just that specific ammo and could have just been that batch... but isn't 100 grains a little high & heavy for a 380? 'Shaving'? as far as I know shaved lead does not fly back at you.... sounds more like crap in the powder to me.
