I have an SR9c and was going to get another one but, then I thought why not a SR40c. I ran a search for problems but, not a lot posted. So, for those of you that have an SR40c has there been any problems with it and how do you like it. Thanks

Hi, I suppose being the forum that it is you'll get overwhelmingly positive feedback. I'll never sell mine and have been very pleased. Aside from the obvious things everyone posts that they like. I'd like to add a lesser talked about positive point. Its really two guns in one the way I see it.

What I mean is the option of having the 9rnd and 15 rnd mag makes it very versatile. I carry everyday with it with the 9 round magazine. At home you pop in the 15 rounder and suddenly you have a very fitting home defense gun.

I could say its three actually because its very enjoyable at the range and lots of fun to shoot. Kinda expensive though, compared to the 9mm but I can hardly blame the gun for ammo prices.

As to problems, none so far. 1500 failure free rounds so far. But I did a good initial cleaning, and cleaned out the striker channel when new, then every 300 rounds or so later. I field stripped and lubbed it after each trip as well.

If I HAD to complain about something these would be my only gripes. None of them really bug me though.

1. Magazines are difficult to load when new.
2. The reversible back strap seems pretty pointless. Very little difference between the flat and raised.
3. Would prefer an aluminum guide rod, and striker indicator rather then plastic. (I would not care if it made the overall cost $25 more). Galloway Precision makes replacements that are aluminum though. But plastics all the rage now as I'm sure you know..
4. The plastic Ruger case it comes with could be much better. But this is a cost issue as well. Its very cheap. My suggestion, stop packing gun locks in them and use the saved cash to make a better box.

I have about 400 rounds thru my 40c with no problems. I use it as my constant carry and the only change I made was installing XS Big Dot night sights which was a huge improvement for me, being a senior, I found the factory sights were difficult to get on target quickly.

Another 40c lover here, too.

You are not going to find many problems with the SR40c as their are none!

If you own the 9c you'll love the other c too.

Lateck,

All the SR pistols are accurate and dependable, they are great for CC. If an SR pistol fits your hand and you like the feel of it you will be happy with it.

The only con I have on the SR40c is that mine had to go back to Ruger when I first got it. A lot of light strikes.
When it came back from Ruger 8 days later the pistol was absolutely perfect.

The pros of the gun (now) are its reliability and accuracy. My very first shot out of the box was a bull's-eye at 40 feet. The gun is very accurate and has an excellent "shooter's trigger." I am a better shot with this pistol in 40S&W than I am with my Beretta 92fs shooting 9mm. That is high praise indeed. The 3-dot sights came perfectly adjusted from the factory--I have never messed with them and they are dead-on.

I like the look and feel of the pistol and I was skeptical at first because I am not a huge polymer fan -- mostly I own 1911s, revolvers, and the aforesaid Berettas -- all of these are all-metal guns. But I have to say that I have really come to like my SR40c for the build quality and its handling characteristics.

I guess one "con" on the SR40c is that it has a very stiff spring for racking the slide. This could put some of the ladies off. Not an issue with me.

Overall, my SR40c has become one of my favorite and most fun handguns to shoot, which I absolutely did not anticipate when I decided to buy it. (Its original purpose was to be a traveling gun to toss in the trunk of the car for road trips, etc. or to have in an earthquake SHTF bag.)

The SR40c is great when combined with the Crimson Trace RailMaster laser. I prefer the Rail Master by a wide margin to the CT model that is designed specifically for the SR9c/SR40c. Here is my review on Amazon of the CT RailMaster laser: http://www.amazon.com/review/R4HK8I3KHWQXE/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm

When I first got mine 14 months ago it ha a probem with the trigger not resetting after I shot about 150 rounds through it. I had the gunsmith at the LGS where I bought it and he got a very small piece of plastic out of the trigger assembly. Since them with about 5000 rounds through it not a singe issue. i carry this about 75% of the time and I carry my LC9 the rest of the time.
