I Did a search but could not find any info. Are 77/22 and 10/22 scope rings the same? Do they mount to the receiver the same way? I want to go to a 42 mm scope on my 77/22. I currently have low rings and a 40mm scope mounted with 3/16" clearance between the objective bell and the barrel. I think the medium height rings would give me the clearance I need. I can find many rings for the 10/22 but no luck for the 77/22. Thanks for your help.

Try here: http://shopruger.com/searchscopering.asp

Or, call Ruger and they might swap out the rings that came with your rifle for higher ones (usually only for new, unmounted rings, though).

It would not be the same as 10/22 rings, as the 77/22 uses the integral Ruger mounts, while the 10/22 does not (except for the 10/22 magnum).

If you have 3/16" clearance with a 40mm objective, you can go to a 42 mm objective with no sweat. Remember, the change in height is only HALF the objective diameter. 3/16" is a pretty big gap - you may even be able to go to lower rings.

Keep the scope as low as you can, and the stock fit will be better.

Thanks guys. I`m going to order the scope and see how things work out with the current rings. I`m leaning toward the Simmons 44 Mag 6x21x44 with the side parallax adjustment. I`m trying to keep the weight down and this scope weighs only 11.8 oz. Thanks again for the help.
