Warne #M902/877M mounts for Mossberg ATR & 4X4 work great with Warne #200M low height rings work great on M77 tang safety action. Leupold and other mounts for Remington 700 have the correct screw spacing but were not a good fit IMHO.

Thanks for posting. I have one if these rifles coming and want a new set of bases for it.

I have a set of Rem 700 Leupold QD bases and rings i may try since you mention them...

I bet a gun smith with machinist capabilities could fit them.

The Rem 700 Leupold QD bases will fit your M77. The issue is the where the front scope ring ends up. The back ring wouldn't cause issues ejecting cases but the front ring was a problem with the extended base mounted either direction. I looked at a couple of other M77's and the Warne mount puts the rings in the right place. Weaver makes a set of aluminum mounts that I won't use, particularly on a large magnum caliber rifle like my 7mm Remington Magnum. Using a vintage Weaver "El Pasoo" 40mm scope, the low height rings work for me.

The bases on it look to be the weaver. It is a 30-06 and will go to the Rockies with me to hunt elk next year...

Now Joe, you know you can't kill an elk with a .30-06. You gotta have at least a .298 Belchfire magnum for a minimum. :)

You're right! But inlike to go against the grain a little. Heck, i'm also gonna tote my 10.5" Ruger Max in case i can get one close-ish... :)

Watch that rear scope mount when you eject spent rounds. I would try it at the range. Similar set-up caused some issues with my 7mm Rem Mag when I fired 2 quick rounds.
