Hey everyone, My first post on here. I have just bought a ruger mini-14 target model with the thumbhole stock. I have been looking at scopes for this model and really like the Nikon 223 series with the BDC. Are any of you using this scope?
I called Nikon to see if this scope with the 42mm bell will fit this rifle with the stock rings. He thought it would but told me to call Ruger and ask them. Well they are all gone for the week so I thought I would post here for my answer. Hope you can help.

Welcome to the forum. I am a big fan of Nikon scopes. The BDC retical is an outstanding product that I select each time I need a new scope. Visit the Nikon web site and they have a very nice application that provides for data about zeroing with specific types of ammunition with diffrent Nikon scope models. I do not know if you will have enough clearance witht he standard ruger rings. If you like that scope, do not let that stop you. Order up some staller ruger rings that will make it work. Depending where you buy it at, you could take the rifle in with the rings installed and see if it works. If you go to the Nikon web site you should see a specification section on that scope with details on dimentions. If I liked the scope and found I needed taller rings, I would just get them. I know that it takes time but getting it set up the way you like it in most important. Hope that helps. Happy Thanksgiving!
