Scope base adapter help

I want to make a detachable mounted aperature sight for a model 77 MKII. I plan to mount an X/S sight to one of the short Burris Ruger to Weaver adapter bases. The problem is: Burris makes three different models of the base sets, 410990, 410991 and 41092. One of the bases included with each set is different from the other two sets. I know which one I need. I just need to see pictures of each set, to know what number to order. Vendors use a stock picture of one particular base set and the picture is not necessarily the correct one for the model number of the set advertised. Does anyone know where I can find a picture representing the respective adapter sets, 410990, 410991 and 410992? I emailed Burris and still have got no response from them. Thanks, RJ.

Hey RJ,

I recently had a similar issue with Leupold, regarding sizing of lens cap covers, different numbers and styles, but no photos. I emailed and waited for a response. I finally called Leupold and was able to obtain the necessary information in a prompt and courteous manner. In their defense, Leupold states on their website that an email response may take several weeks, a phone call may be quicker.

Thanks Boomer. I suppose I may have to call them. I sent them a second email with attached pictures of the 3 models of adapters, asking them to match up model number with picture. So far, no response. They may be backed up or short handed right now. I'll give them a few more days before calling.

Might be a lot easier and quicker to get a NECG aperture sight.

gewehrfreund, sure it is. I already have 2 of them. But, in this case, easier is not as good. For hunting the XS sight that I am going to mount onto the Burris base, works much better. The NECG aperature blocks everything out of view except what you can see through the small aperature hole. With the XS ghost ring aperature, it is much faster because you never lose sight of the animal. I've made a couple of shots on running game with the XS, and I know it works.

I wonder if you could modify the NECG sight to give more or less the same effect? (i.e. trim metal from around the aperture threaded hole, leave the aperture out and outline the hole with some visible coating)

I thought about that and looked the sight over. The way the aperature is tightened to lock the elevation adjustment in place, puts pressure on the aperature. Therefore if you skeletonized it, tightening the aperature to lock the elevation adjustment, would likely bend the aperature. And even if you did so, you would still have the large parts of the sight's body on the left and right sides. One thing I do like about the NECG sight is its looks. I looks kind of "old time military", kind of a classic look on RSI's and #1's.

I called Burris and referenced the email that I sent them with the pictures attached. The CSR said that he would match up model number with picture and return my email. He did and I ordered the corresponding number adapter set. Kudos to Burris customer service! Once I receive the adapters and make up my sight, I'll post the results.
