Well, I'd been putting it off and hoping my beloved older brother would come down to Florida for a visit; But given his health problems (bone Marrow not producing enough of whatever) and that he has to get a shot and other treatments regularly, I finally decided it was time to make a visit to the liberal west coast of the USA and pay him a visit.
SO, I booked a flight that way on 28 Feb via AA using some of my frequent flyer miles; total cost is going to be around $104 because I splurged for exit row seating on a couple of the flights.
I'll leave Tampa at 0600, arrive DFW at 0755, leave there at 0850 and arrive at John Wayne airport in Santa Ana at 1010. Hopefully, he or one of his off spring will pick me up for the ride to Garden Grove.

I'll head back home on 07 Mar (again AA and frequent flyer miles) at 1440 and hit Tampa around Midnight, Again through DFW.

If they need a seat and offer me enough money ($600-$800 and First class on another flight :roll: :roll: :roll: ), I would be willing to delay one of my flights headed home . :lol: :lol: :lol:

I hope that works out for you, but I've found it's getting tougher to get those. They have to be really, really, over loaded, to get the price up. But it can happen. I've heard it happen on other flights but it hasn't happened on one of my flights for a few years.
Have fun. I really make an effort to keep my schedule flexible enough that I could do it either coming or going. FWIW.
