Nice Rifles in an excellent Whitetail caliber. Had one in the early 70's,,shot four Bucks with it in PA. and not a one took a step.
Wish I would have never let her get away,,one of the early takedown models.
Thanks for sharing.

My only 99 is in another classic Savage caliber, the .300. I continue to look for one in 250-3000 as nice as the one shown, but alas the ones I find are all well used and carry a hefty price tag. That one in the photos is quite a looker, and I bet it shoots as good as it looks. Great gun and great caliber/cartridge.

PS. My only rifle in 250-3000 is a Ruger M77 RSI and that is also a great rifle/cartridge combination.

Hi,

Beautiful, Johnny!

Every so often I get a bug to own a 99, and look around for a while. Most of 'em I find at a price I'm willing to pay have been rode hard and put away wet way too many times, so I give up. Glad to see there still ARE nice ones out there!

This rifle has the detachable magazine thats not seen on 2 many of these.I found it a a pawn shop in CHESTER W,VA.AROUND 1999.The guy that worked there would call me when he had something good.I was lucky to find it and at $265.00 out the door it was a steel. That guy looked just like Jesus Grist and I'm not kidding a bit.I have a 300 and a 308 also.I'll show some pictures of them too. I love to take pictures of my Guns and thats shooting thats free.

I shot my first coyote at age 9 with a 250-3000 that belonged to my great grandpa, it had a Lyman receiver sight instead of a scope. I hit that coyote at about 150yds with the rifle rested on a fence post

Don thats why i like posting pictures. So guys can flash back to there youth and tell me there story's about guns they knew from the past. From dads uncles friends and like that.I love to here them and it feels good to use my collection to spark people back to a happy time with stories like that. Thanks for sharing it.
heres a 308 .

This 308 is a carbine but the 250 is a rifle. I got 1 more photo to load from photo bucket. The 250 has a button on the right side to release the mag.you can see it in 1 picture.I paid $80 for this 308 with a cracked stock+ 8 years later i found out it was borrowed and sold to me. The guy bought it back for $150 with the new stock+returned it before the guy reported it stolen. The next day i get a call from a friend from the bar phone saying a guy has a 308 rifle for $100 and he's leaving for the service. He shows up with the savage 99 i sold a day earlier with the story how it was loaned out for years and he just got it back.So i whip out $80 and he took it and i returned it to its place beside the 250+ 300 99s.I since replaced the scope. That was around 1998 or so.
