Sandhill Cranes were here today

Beautiful pictures. West of Wolf Creek Pass, before getting into Pagosa Springs, there's a field on the north side of the highway that nearly always has a large gaggle of Canadial geese feeding. Beautiful birds also.

You have every right to be proud. Beautiful work.

Sandhills winter just south of us. During the south migration I can sometimes lure a group into spending the night here. A neat bird I never tire of watching.

I assume these are the same that you see on golf courses in Florida.
I go down to play a few rounds every summer with a friend who retired near Tampa. I enjoy seeing them on a course.

We are fortunate to have a migration stop just 10 miles away in Carolina near the Savannah river.

Don's pictures with mountains in the background remind me of the Demoiselle crane, that migrate across the Himalayas at altitudes of up to 16,000 feet. Thats the altitudes flown by the C-47s while "Flying the Hump" during WWII.

Thanks for the pictures.
