Sad News for Jim Beam Drinkers

Two barrel houses at a Jim Beam aging facility in Kentucky went up in flames late Tuesday, destroying tens of thousands of barrels of bourbon.
Crews were able to put out the fire in one of the structures, but the other kept burning into Wednesday morning. No injuries have been reported.

Beam Suntory, which owns the facility in Versailles, said 45,000 barrels "of relatively young whiskey" was lost in the blaze.

Had an easy day of pheasant hunting once. They got into a patch of grape vines with a lot of grapes left. Late in the season the grapes had began to ferment on the vine. Figure instead of a coyote taking advantage of the situation I would. Them were some tasty birds.

As for Jim beam I went and checked my stock looks like I will have to start hording something else besides ammo and reloading supplies.

This happened a few years ago at Beam on a much larger scale. It also happened at Heaven Hill up the road a ways in Bardstown.

According to the company, There are 126 barrel houses with 3.3million barrels in Kentucky of their products...I don’t think prices will be affected!

JB is aged at around 126-128 proof. Quite certain that will not burn?? Bourbon has to be aged in white oak bbls so I’m quite sure this will not change there business model. Yrs ago JB sold 7yr 80 proof in Ark. My go to! Then they quite selln it. But in OK it was still on the shelf. Everytime I’d go to gunshows in Tulsa I’d buy 5-6 cases of 1.75’s. They loved me at 71st Wine and Spirits. Cried when JB dropped it. Wrote JB, emailed JB but never got a response. Reg white label JB aint neer as good.

Jack Daniels is my go to drink and haven’t drank JB but once in the last two decades. JD prices though have kept climbing. Alabama is an alcohol control state it’s cheaper in the ABC stores but they are few and far between. Package stores add $5-$8 dollars more per bottle over the state operated stores. I should have learned to make my own years ago!

As much flammable material in one of those barns I don't think a sprinkler system would do anything.
