I believe S&W has been chasing Ruger for quite some time now. The Ruger LCP and LCR gave birth to the S&W Bodyguard series. The LC9 is the forerunner to a S&W 9mm Bodyguard. The Rugers have a much better following.

I'm still waiting for this rumored .22 SP101........a 9mm SP101 would also be great. I can kinda see a 9mm LCR coming out, but with the LC9 I am not sure Ruger would introduce a "redundant" product like that.

A 9mm does much better from a sort barrel than a .38, so this chambering seems like a natural to me in a snubnose!

Smith quit selling their snub 9mm once (the 940). I'd like to see the 940 be manufactured again. The poly-wheelguns just don't do it for me.

The model 38,49 and 649 Smiths are called Bodyguards. I was surprised when I saw a Smith semi auto called the Bodyguard.

The problem with them so far is the clips. It's either all or nothing. Loaded or not. Clips bend and break, and are a real pain. IF Ruger could ream each chamber with a taper, just like a pistol barrel...they would steel this market from Smith. I'm sure headspace might be a nightmare in a revolver, but you never know. Doesn't this work in the BH convertible cylinders ? ??

I haven't had the problem of the clips bending or breaking and they are the fastest method of reloading.At first,I had a head spacing problem with a couple.When they were stamped out,that left a slight raised edge on the backside.I rubbed them on a soft Arkansas stone and that solved the problem.
A great little gun and I have complete faith in it.I used it to kill a mountain lion in the middle of a dog-cat fight at very close range.I have faith in the gun.

The cylinder on the new S+W Bodyguard 38 turns the wrong way. :lol:
