Ruger has sent an interesting letter to stockholders regarding its stock price ($84 in March and now about $60) and its prospects for the future. Recites statistics on NISC checks, sales, dividends etc for last few years and, all in all, is optimistic for the future of its business. I am holding on to my stock.

It's common for investments go up and/or down in somewhat of a stair-stepped motion.
Me personaly, I don't get too worked up about changes that happen over the short term because to me, the real questions are:
How's it gonna look over the long term?
If my investment does increase in value over time, is the increase gonna keep up with inflation?
If/when I want to "cash out", how many people are going to be standing in line to claim a portion of the proceeds, how much goes to the tax man...and...what are those things gonna do to my bottom line?

None of that can be foreseen without a crystal ball, but one thing's for sure and certain;
You are right, selling after an investment has dropped about 25% aint the way to make money.
