Sirs,
My sincere apologies to all if I caused any problems with my offering that particular gun for sale, and the comments I left here. In the future I will really watch what gun I put up for sale and the price I put on it. As you all should know, a business cannot operate on 10% profit margin. I have done dealing with a number of people here and have no complaints and I still hope to do lots more.

You are in business. You set your prices. It's up to the buyer to choose to purchase or not. Beyond that, everything else is opinions.
I do not feel you were in anyway out of line. Some folks comments were a bit out of line. But when you asked if your price was too high, you did open the door a bit.
That said, I do not think anyone is upset with you. They may disagree with you or feel your markup is more than THEY want to pay. Their choice.
Please continue to offer guns, and if someone wants one they will purchase them. If not, then you can sell them elsewhere.
I was in a new gunshop yesterday. The owner had been open almost 4 months. His prices on new Rugers was full retail. I did NOT try & tell him his business. I DID spend time talking to him, developing a relationship, and discussing many other issues. He's a nice gentleman. He's going to support the local NRA functions. He's considering building an indoor range. He may eventually find a Ruger (OM) I want. While I was there, he sold some ammo, ordered a gunstock, and sold a SP-101 in 357 NIB. Good for him.
Business is business.
Stay around here & don't get discouraged. I wasn't offended by your other postings.

I also chose "no comment" I gave up waiting for an SR1911 as I could not find one local. At one time I may have paid list price for one. Now (sour grapes) I don't want one at all. However I figure your business is none of my business. I looked and moved on. No problem.

Every business can survive on a different profit margin. Here on our ranch, we need a different profit margin on our cattle than the guy down the road because he drives a new pickup every year and has two new tractors and we don't. Every business is different.
I know an old livestock buyer who used to say it was easy to make a million dollars buying sheep. Just make a dollar a head and buy a million of 'em.

Hey FLH, just put it up for auction and make some money.....I saw one at the local show and the guy sold it for $900 dollars so I guess makin money is OK .....just not here on the RF :lol: :lol: :lol: do what ya gotta do ....see ya RR.

My FFL guy told me the other day that he was getting FULL MSRP( sometimes more) and prefered not to sell them to his "good customers"!!

Well, my mouth is too big to abstain. I think that everything that you did was fine, except maybe asking for opinions, which opened the floodgates. It was they who were out of line in my opinion, by criticizing here instead of in PM to you. Keep on selling here. You have a vast and selective market for Rugers as well as other weapons that will tickle someone's fancy. In spite of some of the guff you received, I have not found a greater group of people to deal with and to speak with anywhere. Knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge. Helpful beyond belief. Hang around. You will get hooked too.lol Hank

I don't post a lot on here, but I saw your listing and thought " that's more than I want to pay" and left it at that. If I was in business I'd have to make a profit. I saw nothing wrong with your asking price and want to say thank you for offering it here first. Its not often you see them.

I was reading thru the thread looking for a typical price drop and found it ridiculous that everyone was complaining.

I don't feel your price was out of line. My guess is the price of these will always be a little higher until Ruger floods the market with them. That said, I pledge allegience to no dealer just to keep them in business. Competition being what it is allows us to still get good deals on things we like and need, at least for now. Greed being what it is along with human nature means that we usually do whats best for us regardless of which side of the counter we are on. I have had some archery dealers upset with me in the past for finding the best deal on my bows but when you are saving hundreds then its just business. If you are saving pennies then I will buy local. I don't like a dealer who expects my business just because they are local.

I don't think you are out of line, I'm a Dealer and been trying to get a SR1911 from one of my salesman for as long as they started making them and have not received one yet from them! So I started looking else where for one of my customers and told him that I could not sell him one for the $699 I quoted him. I have to go to Gun Broker and buy one for $775 and sell for $850.

I can never understand why people reply to a Classified post unless they are going to buy or advising a PM has been sent. All else, including legitimate questions, should be handled via PM. Same goes for the pi$$ing contests when there is a problem with a deal goin' south. It's between the two parties and should remain so. When it concludes and truly ends south then feel free to advise folks with a caution selaling/buying with "so and so".

One observation...You say that a business can`t survive on a 10% margin...Well thats why you need to have other products other than guns... that have higher profit margins...McDonalds wouldn`t survive selling just hamburgers alone they need to sell pop and fries etc. that have higher profit margins to survive....The Internet has changed everything...good and bad...it gives you a much larger market but you need to find out how to sell cheaper...That said you have the right to ask whatever you wish...but being the Internet expect some flack... I`ve been around I owner 4 businesses and I retired at 40....Good Luck
