Does the Speed Six come with only a round butt?
Are they available in different finishes and barrel lengths?
Thanks for any info.

Stu,
The Speed Six was the Ruger round butt and as far as I know it was always a round butt. I know you can find it in blue and stainless, .38 and .357, 2 3/4, 3 and 4 inch barrels.

And also in 9mm Luger. The square butt guns were Service Six, IIRC.

Yep. A Speed Six with a square butt is called a Servce Six, and one of those with adjustable sights is a Security Six, although this is the reverse order of their introduction, I believe.

But before there was a Speed or Service ...the Security Six came with either Adjustable or Fixed sights...both with square butts...

Just to keep the confusion going...
We have found about a doz. Speed Sixs (round butt) guns mis-marked as 'Police Service Six'!!! (See my post in the collectable section about the SS-34).

So....Always open to finding the opposite mistake - that is a square butt gun mismarked as a 'Speed Six' (normally a round butt).
