as noted above, obviously, safety and common sense,,,,that being said < Iknow of in cases of having to use only what you have handy ,such as varmint control, friend used 22 lr in his magnum to dispatch a coyote attacking his neighbors small dog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
and yes, we've done it, tried it ourselves, sometimes on purpose, many others out of ignorance, forget just what cylinder is in the gun.............
in all cases, they either bulged or simply split the case....wrong ammo is wrong ammo, safety FIRST and foremost...... :wink:

I'll admit I have done it by accident. The first thing I noticed before the split cases was the key holing I got from the bullets down range. Paper target. Not accurate at all, so I don't know if a person would want to do this on purpose or not.

We did it years ago, just as a test.
Wanted to see if in a survival situation it would work. I don't remember if it was as accurate as using the LR cylinder but it did work, it was good enough to pop a squirrel or grouse if needed, and no split the cases.
