Ruger Round 3

So much as you probly know I have sent my SR1911 in for slide issues twice now.So should I send in for round 3 :?: Cocking Lug has a burr or flask what ever its called or should I just live with it?

Does anyone know what other part this comes in contact with? Three time Ruger give me a break your customer service is great but your quality is going in the gutter.
 
I'm not going to tell you what to do vis-a-vis returning the gun or not (that's your prerogative) but I will say that my SR 1911 is razor sharp along that edge. I mean razor sharp. It hasn't become a problem in many thousands of rounds, so I leave it alone and I continue shooting and enjoying my pistol. It's not a perfect gun, and I didn't pay a perfect gun price for it, either. But as I'm so often reminded on these forums, my opinion doesn't matter. But at least you know it's not just your gun.

I thought about leaving it alone,But can I ask how is your accuracy and what other part does it come in contact with?
 
My particular pistol is the most accurate production 1911 I own, but that's a pretty limited comparative base. I don't think that particular edge really comes into contact with anything, so far as I know. If I'm wrong I have little doubt the forum experts will be along to correct me shortly.
 
Ask yourself these questions:
~ Does it come into contact with the cartridge?
~ Does it come into contact with the barrel?
~ Does it hang up on anything?
~ Can you find any place where it comes into contact with any other part?

If your answer to all of those is no, then don't worry.

If you want a gun that is velvet smooth on every surface, you will pay from
five to ten times what you paid for the Ruger. A Ruger is the "Timex" of
firearms; "takes a licking and keeps on ticking".
 
That's a good point Pat in CO. So a trip to the range. it was test fired at ruger 30 rounds.The old saying goes.....

If it bothers you just take a small flat file and simply break the corner of the rail. That part does not ride on any other part.

Can you show it on your rail how
 
I'm with precision 32, and would just stone or file that edge( bevel the entire length) just for the "looks"??, the mark shown in the picture means NOTHING..............seen LOTS worse over the years.
Nature of the beast of stainless is the burrs, and ease of nicking (marking) relatively soft on the surface.
 
If it ain't broke don't fix it! Although it is your call.
Kimbers are real nice if one wants perfection but you pay the Kimber price.
IMO if it does not effect performance leave it alone YMMV. ps
 
The area circled in the pic does not show any problem. Have you had it inspected with liquid penetrant to indicate a linear defect (lap or inclusion) ?
I don't see an issue otherwise, and it is a non-critical, non-function dependent surface anyway.
Advice: Put another 300-500 rounds through it - I'm betting it (whatever you see) won't be there in the morning.

Is there anyway to check the porosity of the slide?
 
Not to sound argumentative, but with 30+ years in aerospace NDE, failure analysis, etc., I ask Why?

You could have a lab do FPI - Fluorescent Penetrant Insp./Evaluation, for defects open to the surface, but Ruger's investment casting process is sound, and does not create casting voids, cold shuts, flow lines, or chain porosity, etc. of any detrimental type or degree. CIC is not similar to hot casting in say, and engine block or aircraft structural component.
 
Im thinking to leave it alone and shoot,any problem arise Ruger will be right there to repair it
