I have this 3 Screw Six that came in the pictured box. I can see letters bleeding through the label that is on it. Did Ruger do this type of thing or did a former owner re-home a box?

Ruger would print up labels and put them on boxes they had available if they didn't have the correct box available at time of distribution. Too bad they wrote revolver on the label.

I think even some of the early double action guns came that way ……. End label sticker over the printing on the box.

That box with the applied over label is a great one to have. Even though someone hand wrote "revolver" on it. Unless I'm mistaken,,the original printing is for a much more common box. RSS5 I believe.

It could be either. Factory workers will make do, sometimes. And, owners, too, wanting a correct label for the box they put the gun in.
