Ruger Practicle Holster

Hello to everyone! been looking for the Ruger experts for a while.
Been collecting Ruger Revolvers, parts, grips and grip frames for years. Have a 4 5/8 Practicle Holster NIB from the find in the attic of the old Factory years ago, but not made by Bianchi, does anyone have info on the maker? A local follower indicated Cathy or Kathy as a possible manufacturer?

Welcome to the forum. I do believe a company named Cathey also made the practical holsters you speak of.

The Cathey holsters are the identical pattern of the Bianchi.
Cathey's have a Ruger eagle logo impressed into the belt loop.

What size? Single Six or Blackhawk?

They made several different models, but I believe they were far from producing all of the different models.
We have only found 5-7 different, including an Old Army. Don't remember if the O.A. was left hand or right hand at the moment.
There are also different markings on some of the holsters, Cathey. I would need to look at them again, but believe there is one marked for "5-1/2" or 6-1/2" SINGLE-SIX" as well as a "6-1/2" or 7-1/2" BLACKHAWK".

didn;t the 'Cathey ' co. holsters come out after they stopped the Bianchi models?? and I thought they were sold through Sportmens Guide or CDNN or some such mail order house.......
Bianchi made about every model, and barrel length as well as left or right handed...we had their display in our shop back then, mid 80s........like $18 retail and NOT a very good seller...ended up selling them at gun shows 8) :roll: ( for some years !!) :wink:

The Ruger Practical are simply the best holsters. I have several and you can use like a gun rug. Ultimate protection. Only bottom of grips are exposed

The Cathey holsters were actually done at the same time as Bianchi was doing their's. I forget what the story was on that, have the letter here somewhere, but I think it was that Bianchi wasn't getting them out fast enough. The first flap holster dad ever got was a 6-1/2" Single-Six by Cathey.

The colors are different also. The Cathy is more redish brown and darker than the Biachi which is more of a buckskin lighter color.
