The one I;m looking at is a 76 blued ROA, but thats not to say I won't get a stainless version later as well ! This one just seems the right price.
Its in Tasmania and a gunsmith will have a look over the wekend or Monday for me, assuming they aren't snowed in.

Invasion? Nah they donlt want private citizens being able to defend ourselves. We'll just ring you blokes up in the States and you'll come and save our arses (and I'm sure you would too) but how we'll survive an initial occupation/invasion before rescuing forces could be amassed and deployed is another matter.
As the government keeps reminding us - owning a firearm is a "priviledge not a right" :roll: Every time some poor bugger gets shot at or even robbed by a criminal with a gun, the knee-jerk reaction is to restrict Law Abiding Firearms Owners. Yeah, that'll work. Our big problem is that the GREENS have the balance of power in the Senate now and our dumbass Ranga prime minister needs them to remain in government. W call the GREENS "Watermelons" (Green on the outside, Red on the inside) a position justified when their leader Bob Brown came out last week and advocated a "One Wolrd Government" policy. It really makes me wonder why anyne voted for them. I think if we didn't have compulsory voting here w'd be a hell of a lot better off.
Yes it is possible to get a Collectors licence which helps you get around someof the restrictions liek calibre and barrel length. It is not legal, however, to fire any firearm held on a collectors licence which to me rather defeats the point of owning the guns in the first place.
Things most shooters here can't have.
Pistols >36cal/9mm (With the exceptions noted earlier)
Pistol magazines <10 rouds
Barrel length <10cm for revolcers or 12cm for semi aurtos
Semi Automatic rifles or shotguns
Pump Action Shotguns
Anything that fires the 50BMG cartridge.
(this will likely extend to all derivatives thereof as well)
and thats just off the top of my head.
They are now brininging in restrictions preventing people owning guns that "resemble a military firearm" ( a nice open term they mean if its bacl and scary and they;ve seen it in ALiensor Terminator or something then its out. Also anything that looks like an "assault rifle" as well)
ANotheroption being considered is a complete ban on imitation (replica, non-firing) firearms.
You also need a full firearms licence for an air rifle.
You need a licence for a paintball gun.
In most states its illegal for people to shoot until they are at least 12 years of age.
and so on and so forth.....
