Ruger No.1 Caliber/Production Data

The Ruger Website has under Product History a caliber listing for the models and a Serial # listing for the 1st serial# shipped in that year that allows one to make an educated guess as to when their Ruger was made/shipped.
As to the No.1, the list only contains 40 chamberings; I can account for 60! Also doing a little math on the year starting serial # can give an approximation of how many were made that year. Interestingly, 2013 was not the lowest production year!

Lee - I assume you just want the No. 1 chamberings, but if you want to include the No. 3, then 375 Win. and 44 Mag. should be added.

Lee you peaked my curiosity, I thought for sure 2013 would have been the lowest production year in a long time, Now I am going to have to do some reading.

As an aside, it appears to me that the range of serial #s in the "work in process" at any given time has been much reduced in recent years( about last 10-12) and the accuracy of the estimated production for these years is more accurate than in the 1st 30 years of production. I did not try to estimate the number of No.3's intermingled in 1980-86, but I doubt it was more than 10,000 rifles.

Like B.O.B., I thought 2010-2013 would have had a serious decline in the number of #1's sold given how Ruger is now making/marketing them.... Then you see spikes in the production in various years, '81, '93, '97 for example, and you do wonder how many of those were actually shipped vs. made and stored until needed?

More interesting observations than anything useful, as long as they keep the #1 alive I'm happy!
