Ruger No 1 Buttstock switch?

Is it possible to switch Buttstocks between Ruger Number ones? Were there differences in relation to caliber, dates and type?

I believe that they are all the same. The only differences between calibers and versions are ejectors, barrels, forearms, and sights.

I have been researching it and it seems the Buttstocks are the same. Although I have not got a clear answer when it comes to using a long straight slot screwdriver or a 5/16 socket to remove the stock. I have read both, so that maybe is a difference

7/16" and slotted.

7/16 and slotted screw driver….. ok but I have read that early ones use the screw diver and later the 7/16 nut. Any idea?

I gave my friend a 375 H&H no. 1 for Christmas a few years ago (because everyone should own a 375) he had a 30-40 krag no. 1 that had a beautifully figured stock and he was going to sell it, he swapped the lumber with no problems.

It was a 1976 and the bolt was both slotted and 7/16".

They changed the tang length on them, Dont recall what year but there is a difference in the stocks before and after the change.
