I have been through my Blue Book, Chad's Reference and the most recent insert with the RENE. I need help as I want to buy this before it is taken if it is a good deal. Serial number puts it in 1986 manufacture. It appears to be near mint and has original box and papers. It has adjustable sights and a bull barrel but is not listed for sale as a target model. Will the box be a plastic one? Will it have the elongated warning on the barrel? Seller is asking $420.00 shipped. I thought a standard model would not have the bull barrel and adjustable sights? Which model number would this be...... blued. Thoughts? BB seems to list it as $300.00 in 100% condition while the RENE is higher.

If you're new to buying guns, I would highly recommend buying a gun locally that you can examine, touch, and feel in person. That price seems high to me.

I'd think you can get a brand new MKIII bull barrel for that price, and a 22/45 even cheaper.

While you might think so from this post, I am not new to buying and selling. I do appreciate your comment. Have been looking for a Mk.II for some time. I seem to be getting conflicting values from the Blue Book and from the RENE price guide. This is all complicated by the fact that I live and buy and sell in Canada so sometimes prices are a bit different. New to collecting Rugers may be more accurate. I do enjoy this site and all of the great info I gather here. I am still looking for answers to my questions. Thanks, Dave

Taking a cue from revhigh I passed. Today, while returning home I stopped in a gun shop that I seldom frequent and bought a Mk.1 for $175.00 in 95% condition with a holster. I am seldom this lucky. Dave

i've had the same MKI for about twenty years, once i learned how to take it down it became my favorite small caliber gun to shoot. paid 180.00 for it

Love my mark 1 lord knows how many rounds down the pipe. Nine rounds in the mag. mark 2 is 10 and has a hold open on the last shot. Who really cares.
