Ruger Mark I or Standard Auto? question

I bought a Ruger 22 auto pistol today from an estate sale. Do not have the Ruger box but it appears to be unfired. When I did a serial number search it comes up as 1977. It came with two magazines, the base of the magazine is chrome and not marked as far as a Ruger logo, the chrome base bottom is about 1/2 inch tall. Can I use the replacement magazine listed for the Mark I that has a shorter chrome base?

Added the pistol is not Marked Mark I so is it a Standard model 22 auto?

The mags for a MKI & a MKII will work. Just make sure you have a double slotted side of the mags. That way, you can swap around the mag follower button easily. I think yours should have the double slotted type anyway. But, the newer MKII's will be just fine too.

The MKI was a target version of the standard. Sounds like you have a standard. Should have a tapered barrel and fixed sights, and barrel should be 4 5/8 or 6"????????????? Neither had a slide stop to lock the bolt back and came with the chrome based magazine that holds 9. VERY good guns, and a like new one is CERTAINLY worth 200.

Thanks for the replies, is the shorter tapered barrel with fixed sights. The magazine button is hard on the finger so a loading tool is a sure thing.

The newer MKII magazines have a more comfy button, a softer spring, and hold 10 rounds and feed as well or better.
