Ruger M77 MK2 stock change issue

Hello all, I have recently changed my green laminate wood stock out for a walnut wood stock. A factory NOS from ruger. I emailed ruger and gave them factory part number from new stock and they stated it would fit with minor fitting (sanded about a half or less of a 1/16th of in barrel chamber.) Everything fits perfect but drop plate will not close! It is so close. Any input appreciated.
Rifle is a ruger m77 stainless 16 inch barrel in 7mm/08

Tough to tell with those photos (don't show enough detail). Open the drop plate and take some showing the stock at that point. It almost looks like you'll have to inlet the stock in that area a bit to have it close correctly. Or possibly have to do a bit of work on the stock to have the action drop a bit farther into the stock.

A little lamp black may show the spot, but it's looking good.
