I am new here. I read a lot and enjoy the forum. I looked here for the last few days wondering whether to post this and also wondering where to post it. So, I am taking a "flyer" and will post here because this may fit into the collectable category. I am vacationing in Seal Beach California and, while walking, I spied this lovely looking door mat at a house. It is black with a Ruger red eagle logo. Now, I find myself lurking and wondering when I will see the owner outside so I can ask him or her ...."are you a collector"? I also wonder if he may be a former employee? I assume these may be common? Dave....PS - while waiting to post this I searched the internet and found them on ShopRuger.com. So, I answered my own question but I am still wondering about the owner of that mat!!

years ago, there was always some of these rugs for sale at the various Ruger 'theme' shows, ,most were the "hook/stitch weave???" you put a pattern on the basic 'blank' format and pull the short different color threads through the loops, and voila, a 'rug' others were done if I recall right by Roger Dorsett and were actually small carpets that were 'cut out, and repieced together, ,.........nice solid fit...as for values, ,have no recall as to what I paid for some for the wife, was not a whole heck of a lot,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I know, put "Ruger" on it and some one will bit on it

I won one of those nice rubber door mats at the Jan. '14 Boise Ruger show. Your comments are why I don't have it at my front door.
In these times, I'm a bit choosy about letting folks know I have a nice collection. Some folks are just not comfortable around guns and others, well, they just might covet them a bit too much, if you know what I mean. :(

Thanks Coach.......I have already found them there and mentioned it in my first post on this thread. Headed out to lurk around that residence....hee hee! Dave

Dave,
Glad you found the source for the doormats and I hope you find out about the owner you are stalking! LOL

I noticed you are in Westport. I go up to Canoe Lake with a group every June. If you are interested, maybe we could get together for a chat or lunch? Let me know what you think.
I poked around the site a bit and couldn't find a way to send a private message so I'm not sure how we could exchange info...
Regards,

EDIT: I finally found the PM hidey hole...PM inbound.

Ruger door mats are cool but putting one on your front door is just a invitation to thief's, kind of like the Intel Pentium inside sticker on your computer advertising what you got.

Think it a nice counter mat, however, $45 dollars is more than just a bit too much.(and apparently not even made of rubber) Besides that, I see flawed logic in wiping one's feet on the emblem of a firearm for which we seem to have a deeply formed affinity......Just sayin'. Last, it also strikes me that the emblemed goods that Ruger offers are priced waaay too high and it takes advantage of our said affinities, passion or even loves.

The mat has the 'Hard R' logo - no 'S'. So.....not so much 'heresy'!

I agree. There's no way that I would put anything on my house or truck to indicate that I own firearms. Too many thieves these days.

Well, I was given one of those doormats by Miss Penny. But she REALLY wanted me to USE it. So, it is used,, inside, in a place where muddy feet etc will not cross it. But the collector in me had to have another one,,, to "put away & keep". So I have a pair.
Now, mine has been in use for over a year. It has not shown any signs of wear, and is quite sturdy. It welcome friends to a special place. And inside the room, there is a non-factory woven round rug with similar markings.
I'll see if I have a picture of my set-up to share.
Ahh,,, here it is;

Well I made my own RUGER RUG....cut out and inlaid all the pieces with the help from my 80 year old DAD....

I didn't need his help but it sure was fun working with him again like the old days....spent 20 years working for him right outta HS....plus every summer growing up....

Silver carpet with a GREEN WREATH around the RED EAGLE just like the RARE Light Weight Box :!: :!: :!: why not.....RR

I am a little different I suppose.............but logo hats, shirts, pins, rugs, whatever are just NOT my thing. You are paying your own money, to freely advertise for a company that has never done anything for you. You can claim great customer service, good pricing, whatever, but they do the same for those who DON'T advertise for them for free.

Don't know, maybe it comes from my racing days, and that is, if you aren't helping me, the sticker is pulled off, or name ground off the parts. No free advertising from me.........LOL!!!!

Man, when you "do" a theme, you do it ALL.

Well I had the 3 different colors left so I made I believe 5 extra RUGER RUGS.....

They are all different red, green, and silver backgrounds....with different color wreaths and eagles...

I know Vince, Jerry, Terry, and Tim have one...and I have one I kept for myself....RR

Occurs to me you might need one of the Ruger door mats to protect that pretty silver carpet.

:)

Well that is where it resides.....right inside the door....the room no longer is this organised.....stuff is stacked and piled everywhere.....unfortunately....the wife bought me my own DIRT DEVIL for CHRISTMAS.....RR

Oh, like for those "other" makes of toys that are out-of-place in your RUGER ROOM?

Sorry . . . you threw it right over the plate, so I had to swing at it.
