I read a lot of "police procedurals" and low-tech thrillers like C.J. Box and Paul Dorion and suchlike trash. The best of these guys get the firearms mostly right. But Rugers show up pretty seldom and most common are .22s, which makes some statistical sense.

But I recently finished "The Night Crew" by John Sandford set in metro LA. One thing that caught my eye is that in the last chapters a Ruger .44 Magnum--CARBINE gets pulled out. Unfortunately it doesn't actually kill the bad guy, but it sure tries. He finally gets killed by five .357s from an S&W 642.

Nice to see something Ruger in my reading. Getting sick of Glocks and ARs....
