I'm a new member and need help identifying a couple of revolvers.

First: a Bearcat with serial no. M113; need year of manufacture.

Second: Ruger .22 Cal Single-Six serial no. 60-68738; need yr. of manufacture; also is this a magnum only?

Thanks

vanmark,

Welcome to the RF. Hittman gave you good places to look and find out about your Ruger revolvers. In the case of your alphabet Bearcat and OM Super Single Six the charts provided by Ruger will supply you what you need. But you will find the other references are going to provide a much more interesting search for answers data.

Bearcat serial number M113, looks as if it was shipped in 1959. Single-Six, actually it's a Super Single-Six, serial number 60-68738 looks as if it was shipped in 1971. This gun should have both cylinders, 22 LR and 22 Mag. Actual shipping dates will have to come from Ruger.

Thanks a bunch; there are no other markings on the Single-Six except on the barrel; that's why I thought it was an unmarked "Magnum only"

Welcome to the Forum, I agree with 'street' and as far as we know the OM "Magnum" (only) guns supposedly stopped as such in 1964, as RENE had noted ,none made after that....as far as yours and it being a 'prefix' gun came after the 1968 GCA and Rugers started to use a prefix on all of their models......"single" cylinder guns usually had a marking onder the cylinder frame ,up front) with an 'asterisk' or "star" or an "arrow" (some say it looks more like a house, I do...) and these single cylinder guns are "long rifle" cylinders...bottom line it would take a "letter" to find out just what it may have shipped as , and its "catalog' number they assigned to it..........
both sound like nice guns, and the alphabet Bearcats are pretty good "finds"...good luck

The manufacture date and the ship date may well not be the same. As an example I have a Bearcat with a serial number of "K-81x that was manufactured in 1959 but was actually shipped on 1960. A letter from Ruger will tell the actual 'ship date' as opposed to when it was manufactured, if you are that interested in the 'details'. :)
