Ruger Cuff Links

My grandfather's box of cufflinks contained these red and gold Ruger cuff links:

Grandpa was the gun buyer for Marshall Field and Company on State Street in Chicago during the 1950s. He had a bunch of gun related cuff links and tie bars:

He was probably given the cuff links by a Ruger represenative sometime in the early 1960s is my guess.

Does anyone know anything about these Ruger cuff links like when they were made or how they were offered? I'd love to know!

Don't know anything about the links, but Croyden Gal, in the classifides has (had) a set for sale for a while.
I like them plenty, just don't have the extra cash.

Do those cufflinks happen to say "HICKOCK" in super fine print on them? I'm thinking they Hickock ones did have the name. If so, they were made about 1958 and are pretty rare. An old reference says there were only around 50 sets of those made. After that Ruger got another batch of cufflinks with a short tie bar and different type fob in about 1962. Then about 1973 they got some more, this time with a long tie bar and the same round type fob you have there.

Chet15: Thank you very much for the info! They do say Hicock inside the one arm and U.S.A. inside the other arm. 1958 would have been when my Grandfather was working at Marshall Field & Company in Chicago as the gun buyer. He was quoted in a magazine article/interview that Field's had a better selection of firearms than Abercrombie & Fitch in New York. I'm sure he was given these cuff links by someone with Ruger then. Thank you very much for the info! Now I have to buy a shirt that uses cuff links! Of course, with only 50 sets made I probably shouldn't wear them....

mm6mm6, you are lucky to have such a wonderful Grandfather. He had great taste in gun stuff, which you have carried on for him. Is the bottom tie clip in the long gun set a Remington 3200? Maybe not as it would be about 1973ish.

My grandfather had some nice guns, but my dad had the really nice ones. Unfortunately when my dad passed away in 2004, I was forced to sell most of his guns to get money for my mom. The good part is that I was able to sell them on Gunbroker and get top dollar for them. There are a bunch of very happy gun collectors out there taking great care of my dad's guns.

I'm not sure what brand the tie bars are for. I have two more and one is a Remington. They're in my watch case as I wear one of them everytime I put on a tie.

I'm thinking maybe I'll sell the cufflinks. I really don't know what else I'd do with them. They're super cool but I don't have any shirts to use them on and I wouldn't wear them anyway. They were my grandpa's, my dad's, and now they're mine, but my daughter wouldn't want them....

I still shoot my Grandfather's Browning Double Automatic. It's a first year production gun that was given to my grandpa by Val Browning (son of John Browning) at the 1955 version of the SHOT Show in Chicago. I had the gun lettered and it showed that Browning shipped the gun to themselves in care of the hotel where the SHOT Show took place 57 years ago.

The Browning still shoots great! I took some pheasant with it a few months ago and some ducks last fall.

My daughter shot clays with it when she was 12 years old until I bought her a 1969 version in Dragon Black instead of grandpa's Velvet Grey DA.

Now I've got my grandpa's, a Chocolate Brown DA for my wife, and our daughter's in Dragon Black.

Those are some nice Double Autos you have there. I havent seen a chocolate brown version before. My great uncle had one that I would use when he took me squirel hunting. He prefered a double barrel.

Geez, I really like the Talo Ruger 10/22 International with the walnut stock that is currently offered by Ruger. There's two on Gunbroker for $275 + $30 shipping. That would total at $305.

I wonder if I could get $305 for these cufflinks? Then I could have a Ruger 10/22 with an International Mannlicher style stock like the Mannlicher Shoenauer rifle my dad used to have....

Am I nuts to think about $305 for the cuff links?
