I stumbled on a book today that I did not recognize, last copyrighted in 1982.

Ruger
Automatic Pistols
and
Single Action Revolvers
Book III

The author is Hugo Lueders, with credits given to many of the folks we recognize in Ruger collectors circles.

Anybody know about this book?

WAYNO,

Mr. Leuders was an early Ruger collector and author. He provided a wealth of information on the various types of Ruger pistols and revolvers. When first published his books and later revisions were the data sources used by many to learn about Rugers. Many years ago his estate was offered for sale and many RF members have one or more of his guns. I have one of his Super Single Sixes pictured in one of his books. His son joined this forum last year. The books are more nice to know than need to know now but still a good book to have if you are interested in early Rugers. There is just so many books regarding Ruger collecting and any single one is worth having.

That was also the third revision of that one. Hugo's first edition came out in 1976...it has a green cover. Then the light blue cover 2nd edition came out in 1978.
I think our own D. Findley had a hand in helping get the 3rd edition out.

I couldn't help but dig out my old books just to see what I remembered I have! Here are the Hugo Lueders books that I started acquiring in 1978. The green covered one, the First Edition 1976, came to me after I started Ruger Collecting in 1977. The Salmon colored one I got away from Don Findley and was last revised in January,1982. Don did indeed have a hand in putting the Revised August 1978 book, the blue covered one, together. He also contributed to the Salmon colored one. BTW - Gary Tide name is misspelled - should be Gary Tiede, a long time Ruger Collector and resident of American Falls, Idaho. Here are a few pics.

Thanks for the inspiration WAYNO!

Thank you all, for the information. It was a guy at the gun club that told me he had the book, but when he brought it out to let me see it, and even buy it, he decided then than it was far too valuable for him to sell it to me.

Now that I see they do become available from time to time, I'll have to acquire one.

Thanks.
