Ruger 10/22 Takedown - Where to buy?

I've seen a couple of posts mentioning folks buying them at retail shops recently. Are these slowly trickling into inventory? If so, what stores seem to be getting them? I'm trying to figure out where my best shot might be to get one at close to MSRP instead of the buying frenzy price.

I'm in ND (I read the rule!).

Patience is the key. I too am in the market for one, but I plan on buying one in a couple of months. Black rifles and Hi-cap mags are dropping by the week and these takedowns will too.

Last I heard they were selling for 500 bucks so you might want to wait till the frenzy is over. There are a couple of ppl here looking so, get yours and pass on the info please. Mine shoots so well that I put a hi-power scope on to take advantage of such...good luck

I'm wondering where the inventory is showing up. I'm thinking that a chain like Cabelas or Gander Mtn, WalMart, etc. would be selling at something relative to MSRP. If a guy was checking in the right place at the right time, you might get a decent price. One guy posted that a batch showed up at his base PX, so he got a great deal... tax free.

...and, while I posted my location... I noticed that I posted this to the classifieds instead of the rimfire forum. Maybe the moderator can move it.

I don't see why you can't go to your local gun store and tell them you want one and how long will it take to get it... pay them some money up front and they order it from a distributor.... probably come in within a week.

Don't count on it.
Here in Pensacola, from the best that I've been able to tell, no retailer has any new 10/22 of any description for sell. None are able to forecast when they may get any more in stock.
All part of the current insanity.
Just as well. No one has any .22 LR for sale.

You might contact Mike Reber. He has a way of coming up with things that others are having a hard time getting. This is his sell from back in Mar. so you have a contact point. Wouldn't hurt to PM him and see. Sure hope he doesn't mind me reviving this??

He also had the USA team 10/22 TDs. for sale a few months ago.

Good luck.

I bought one at Cabela's a couple of weeks ago. I had been checking with them off and on for a month or so. That day I walked in and they had them in stock. It turns out they had received 8 that morning.

So there are some out there. Patience is the key.

I wouldn't shop at Cabela's if they gave me a 10/22 TD. Overpriced and rude. Oh how I hate that store/stores, they have an attitude I can't subscribe too. Same with Bass Pro. They treat you like you are there to service them. I will never buy a product from either one. I much prefer to buy from guys here. Pay more attention to the classifieds on this site and you will be way ahead. Due dilegence required.

Well, I walked into Cabelas and they had 10/22 Takedowns for sale. I had $225 in gift cards in my pockets due to generosity of family and friends at Christmas. It took about 6 nanoseconds to make that decision.

I do most of my business at a local gun shop. But I have generally been treated pretty well at Cabelas and do not have any problem with spending my money there. Others feel differently - to each his own.

It took me 6 months searching tirelessly to find one locally last fall. Managed to make a trade and we both felt we came out ahead.

There were bunches on the internet but I preferred local deal and that took longer than expected to find.

Very excellent product IMHO.
