Hello, I am from the UK and we have very stringent firearms laws. In so I can only fire a .22 rimfire rifle. I have read about the Ruger 10/20 mag but am struggling to find much information on it. I have done a search on here but have just confused my self so thought it best just to ask. Does it use any of the same parts as the standard 10/20? Also what do you think of them, good gun to go for?

Thanks

First it's a 10/22 magnum rifle.... I'd leave it alone even though it is a rim fire like the 22 long rifle.

I'd be willing to bet you are going to be hard pressed to find a 10/22 magnum over there... they are few and fair between over here.... the bolt and magazine was different on the 10.22 mag and the cartridges are not interchangable like with 38/ 357 ... 41/41 mag and 44/44 mag... the 22 magnum cartridge is slightly larger than the standard 22 long rifle and if you try and shoot 22lr in a magnum the case will split. I'm sure the 22lr would not cycle in a 22 mag. rifle either.

If you can get a standard 10/22 rifle, that's the direction I would go. They are fun!

Thanks for the reply blume357. Sounds like I should pass on the magnum then as parts where always my real worry.

Blume's right, they are fun and reliable. I was worried about wear on mine when I bought it. But, after him and several others on here relieved me of my worry, I swear up and down by it. I do like my Remington 572 pump action more, but it's a piece of family history and they are pretty expensive.

Now to back up a second... if somebody is offering you a 10/22 mag at a 'good price'. And i have no idea what that would be over there... and you have the money then i might consider buying it, if for not other reason to keep it safe.

then again, if you are limited in your budget... I'd stick with the standard long rifle... we can dress ours up over here like "Barbies' little sister, Skiper".

I like to say the M4, used to the be the AR15, used to be the M-16 is the Barbie Doll of guns, with this being so, then the 10/22 is Barbies' little sister.
