I've got a Ruger International #1 in 30-06 topped with a fixed power Leupold 4X. Nice, nice rifle except for a crack in the forearm. The guy I bought it from glass bedded the forearm and put a crack in it during the process. Thinking about moving it on out since I haven't shot it in about 5 years. What kind of money is it worth these days?

I look at them on GunBroker on occasion, and the ones selling seem to be in the $800 to $950 range. BUT, I agree with above, that finding a replacement forearm could be very difficult. That crack depending on how bad, how big, where, how fixed, and so on could be the show stopper.

I was thinking in that $850 to $900 ballpark with scope. The crack isn't too bad, but it is there. For a hunting rifle the forearm would never need to be changed out. Thanks guys.

My guess is no. They no longer make or keep in stock a large array of parts. And unless there is a current run of #1 RSIs, the chances of one being available are slim and getting slimmer. Please let us know what Ruger says if you contact them.

On the other hand, there are skillful smiths around who can make such repairs to stop further cracking and make them nearly disappear. Kip Wood of Mt. Pleasant MI did this for me on one #1 stock and I still cannot find the repair with my naked eye.

Good luck,

wunbe
