Yep , then it turns into a $650 used, rechambered rifle that's even harder to sell. For the price of either the CHP or certainly the asking price of the over run guns and the cost of re-chambering, you could simply buy a 30-30 "A" which would probably hold more of it's value.
Not that I haven't created more than my fair share of wildcatted #1s and turned them into used, odd cartridge, reduced value rifles to get cartridges I wanted to play with even though few actually do anything another or the original cartridge wouldn't nearly duplicate. ;-) I give you the 22BR, 225W, 22 Cheetah MKI, 22 Cheetah MkII, several 22-250 AIs, two 6-284s, 25-284, three 257 AIs (easily duplicated with the 25-06 with heavy bullets, a BUNCH of 7STWs out a whole lot of factory 7mm Mag "S" rifles over the the 15 years before the factory final made the KB in STW for about 15 minutes in 20004. a pretty rare original 7-08 #1 stainless "B" barrel into a #2, 30-284,30-338.................. ;-) I just never could figure out what I could make that I wanted out of the CHP without re-barreling it and then the exspense wasn't on my side.
