FWIW My Marlin 336 really likes 170 gr cast boolits with Unique powder. I don't cast my own but buy them from Montana Bullet Works. If memory serves they came from a Lyman mold.

What kind of alloy is that?

Gp100man,
What flavor of mold is that you're using for those bullets?

Thanks fellers , I`ve been a member on the CastBoolits site for a few yrs. now !!

I got my inspiration to shoot lead from the folks over there & decided to try rifles a little , what`s the worst thing that can happen - - - - - lead the barrel or summtin???

Anyways I started out with the Lee 150 gr. gc fn , It seems to be popular amoungst the dirty-30 shooter & the Lee mold I recieved drops boolits easy & .3105 dia., nice & tite for my marlin!!!!

The alloy I use is from a facility that handles the radio active chemicals for cancer patients , they dispose of the containers rather than clean & reuse. The containers are (COLD) though, they allow me to double check for myself !!!

The alloy is very consistent 94/3/3 & very clean , some is 96/3/1/ & casts nicely for muzzle busters & cap& ball revolvers.

Here`s a link to some info on isotope alloys. http://www.fellingfamily.net/isolead/index.html

My allergies had me where I could`nt even see saturday but plan on shootin a few for group& speed when I can !!

I`ve eat twice the doseage for benadryl this week end!!!
I`m glad those loads are lite on recoil , my nose is too sore to shoot anything heavy!!!

CK

Just google isotopes & the companies should come up that handle em !!

I pay premium price for it because it`s so clean & consistent!!
but feel em out first , your actually savin em disposal fee or even savin the alloy from the scrape yard!

The problem was gettin in line to recieve a call , now we are regular #1s on the list & usually have a standing buy on the 3rd of the month!!

To heck with pickin out valve steems & zinc weights!!!!!!!!
