Resurrection

I've only been around here a few years, and compared to many here I consider myself a newbie. There definitely are a couple that seem to be here only to cause disruption. It can be entertaining and provide comic relief....but eventually wears thin.

But it does take all kinds to make a world I guess.....lol

There does seem to be a few more "heated" discussions lately. I couldn't help but wonder why one of the more recent ones wasn't simply locked by the mods before it kept going on and on.

You mean the one where the OP was actually begging for it to be closed when he knew he was exposed for what he really is?.....it's still going on.....

In that I'm perceived as the 'libtard' here a few members have stepped over the line and personally attacked me and I was surprised they were allowed to get away with it... but then I also chose not to ignore them... you never know what you might miss. Jeepnik and I have gotten a little too deep into it at a point but here is the interesting part if I actually step away from those and look at his other post then I find that I have to respect him and there are a goodly number of others here the same (the 'newbie posting here is one of them) ....I would list names but I fear I would leave someone out, to get slightly religious... it is the Unitarian in me I guess.

Story time: take it for what it's worth... I used to attend the National Chimney Sweep Convention every year... like all organizations there are cliques in them... I was in two... one was called 'the Friends of Don'. At night as well as one afternoon during the event we would socialize and drink tequila and some of the guys would smoke a little pot'. They were 'slightly' liberal in their beliefs... The other group I belonged to were what I named the sheep dogs... this was a group that took the four day defensive hand gun class out at Front Sight in Nevada every year...(I did it five times) bunch of conservatives as you can imagine.... well one afternoon at the convention I was supposed to go up and hang out with the Friends of Don, as I walked past the bar in the hotel I saw my Sheep Dogs and decided to stop there.... an hour later, two beers and a cigar, I realized I needed to go up to the room where the 'Friends' were... I had to make my apogees and tell them I was late for my Friends of Don meeting. and mentioned these were my liberal buddies and they looked at me kind of funny and I told them, "you know I swing both ways?"

Oh the guy that gave me the cigar said it had been hand rolled between the thighs of a Cuban Virgin.... when I got done with it he did say the Cuban was an 90 year old blind guy.....who claimed to be a virgin....

I miss the days when the forum was closed to new people! 😂. Everyone respected everyone, everyone was polite, you could literally trust everyone.

People were mailing items before they got checks, and nobody ever got scammed. A real family.

There was no conflict, but it was sort of quiet.

Now I put people on ignore a lot, so I don't get sucked into the drama and ruin this place. Some new members seem to want to ruin this place. 🤷‍♂️.

There is a much higher tolerance to political posts in the lounge. Now than ever before.

The thing I don't understand is when two posters get into it on some thread not about what the thread is about or even what the subject might have drifted to but some misinterpretation of what one said and the other took personal offense to.

I've been on this forum for many years and have only recently applied the ignore button (3 times so far).
You can tell a lot about a person's attitude from his posts; I've always chosen to move away from toxic personalities. It's easy to exclude them, and it makes life much more pleasurable.

In the really old days when this forum was owned by private people, we got members who started trolling removed. One or two a year really kept it quiet. Still there were problems at times. One guy who has since passed on was a mod. He was pretty normal on any subject except he decided Rugers 1911s were absolute garbage and also one model of car. He was so bad the 1911 forum suffered from its inception because a proud owner would post a brag and he would berate them endlessly about not being the expert he was. I always wondered if he was flatgates brother in law or something because he was never removed or had his mod status dropped.

It is getting like reddit or arf.com or quora, et al....

At least there is an ignore feature here....perhaps more folks should utilize it 🤷‍♂️

It appears as if you’ve doubled the Oxy. 😀

Are you talking about the guy who went on and on about how great his Prius was? I forget his user name but there used to be endless talk by someone who owned a Toyota Prius.

Well I have a good friend that loves his... just bought another one... and my wife chose a Ford Hybrid Fusion and I like it... except you can't leave it parked for more than two weeks or the battery will totally die. Also, where's the damn spare tire? I had to order one and jack and lug wrench off the internet.

No Kevin I have not double on the Oxy.... just feeling the love that is still prevalent here.....
I dropped off another forum because the owner believed Glocks were made by God it seems and if you even hinted at something negative about them he would jump all over you and did not hesitate to use words we don't use on this forum.. it was not a Glock forum but one for my favorite gun...... but dropping off of that one has saved me a lot of money... seems I was buying a lot of guns from the members there.....

lol...I got the ban hammer at arfcom a long time ago, that site has some serious issues.

I have never put a member here on ignore. If I don't want to interact with someone I usually just don't. I do on occasion probably express my opinion a bit more bluntly than I should but I try to behave.

Now you've got me thinking about Revhigh though that might not be how he spelled it. The semi-auto forum here used to get pretty lively at times. He & another member, CDFingers used to always post on the semi-auto forum. There was a very nice fellow ArmedinAZ that used to post there a lot also. I got to meet ArmedinAZ when he came to Atlanta on business. If my kids ever get raised & I can get it together enough to be able to retire maybe I can get to a gathering one of these years.

Regarding arf, I think it's the age of most posters. They never learned respect. They grew up in the age of anonymity caused by the internet. They tend to insult older folks. Something that would have gotten you dropped like a bad habit when a lot of us were young.

Their are a number of folks here and other forms who got booted by Marlinowners for not drinking the koolaid.
