Where can one find replacement OM Single-Six grips - preferably larger and in wood?

I'd like to buy something aftermarket (non-Ruger).

I need to replace the plastic grips for a shooter.

Altamont doesn't specify OM / XR3 gripframes, so I assume all their grips fit NM / XR3-Red models.

True?

Thanks to all -

Monty

Altamonts website shows several models for the NM XR3 grip. I just bought a set of their bonded ivory and they were nice and fat and very slightly oversize for $28. By relocating the grip pin holes in the grips, I was able to use them on my OM and fit them perfectly.

Thanks, Jim.

So the NV has the XR3 grip frame?

And, except for the locating pin, it is identical to the OM Single-Six grip frame?

And where is the pin location?

Sorry to be dense about this - I'm unfamiliar w/ the New Vaquero.

Thanks again for the help -

The OM & NM XR3 grip frames are the same shape,, but the locator pin is a bit different.
What I'd suggest is getting a set of custom grips made. They will fit your gun w/o any modifications. Try a few of our custom makers.

Thanks, contender.

I may do just that.

The photos of all the custom grips have always made me envious, and here's my chance!

Best to you -

Monty,

Like contender said the old XR3 and new are the same size and basic shape, but every grip frame has slight variation. The grip locating pin is mounted in the toe of the grip frame. Holes on the back of the grips align to the pin and slip over it. By drifting out the pin with a punch, you can install one grip at a time, taped in place, and use the hole in the grip frame as your drill guide.

Custom grips will give you a prefect fit and you can order them with or without medallions, thin or thicker to your preference, and angled or flat bottom. Recognize the price will be at least twice as much or triple the cost. But you get what you pay for and your choice of wood or other material.

May I suggest LSCG,,, a member here. He is a great guy to deal with, and does good work. Also, Cary at clcustom grips. Cary is a member as well, & his grips are stunning!

Thanks again, Hondo and contender.

Looking at those custom grips really doesn't leave me much choice.

I'm just weak-willed, I guess.
