Replacement adjustable front sights for LC9

I'm very happy with my LC9 and it has been 100% reliable having shot about 250 rounds through it.

My only complaint is that at close ranges (5-7 yds) it shoots way low. I was very frustrated this morning when I was at the range with a friend.

First I was having issues with hitting low and to the right. He suggested I make an effort to pull the trigger with only the tip of my index finger and see if that fixed the shooting right. Sure enough it did. When I was pulling the trigger with the 2nd knuckle part of my index finger, it was causing me to pull right

By the end of the day I was able to get it to shoot centered right to left, but it still wanted to shoot low. In order for me to compensate for it to hit on target, I had to put the center dot of the sight significantly higher than the rear two dots. When doing this, I was pretty much guessing where the bulls eye was because it was completely covered by my front sight.

Are there aftermarket sights out yet? I'm looking for a shorter sight for the front of my gun, this should compensate for it shooting low when the 3 dots are lined up in a line.

Any thoughts or suggestion? Are the dovetails a standard dimension or do I need to look for something made specially for the LC9?

It's probably not the sights. With the trigger pull the way it is, most shooters will unknowingly jerk the trigger, causing the bullet to go low. Before you start removing and replacing sights, try bench resting the gun and firing it. Chances are you'll be on target from a rest. If thats the case then you just need to learn the trigger better. It takes time and practice.

Hmmm. I'll see if I can figure out how to shoot bench resting it. Maybe up at my cabin...

At the range I was at today, the bench's are 50 yards from the target area, set up those using rifles, or just to set your ammo on.

I do like that the long trigger pull means there will be no accidental discharges, but it may take me 500 rounds more until I get used to it. This is getting expensive fast. :shock:

I really do want to get proficient with the gun because I bought it for concealed carry. There's no sense carrying a gun if I can't shoot it accurately. :?

Most fixed sight guns print low at close range. They are usually sighted in for ranges of 15 or 25 yards. Try a heavier bullet to get your pistol to print higher or try moving your target out farther.

For a CCW gun, remember the general rule 3 shots, 3 yards, 3 seconds. When the SHTF, there isn't much time to think or aim, it's point and shoot. Practice will make you familiar with your pistol, but when things go bad, it usually happens very fast. Adrenaline takes over, you'll be shaking, being a little low won't much come into play. Lets hope it never happens. Enjoy your new LC9, have fun with it and it will be there for you if needed.
