Removing Pistol Grip Cap

Have A nice Ruger #1 Stock will use for duplicating. How do I remove the pistol grip cap? Seems I may have to lightly drill out the gold Ruger logo , have heated it and lightly tried to lift gold logo out...nope. I dont want to wreck A nice blued metal fitting. any advice appreciated. If I recall right, the grip cap has a medallion ( brass)?? in the center, and that is over the screw head....pry this out to get at the screw...been a while since we had to take one of them off,always worked around it..........
