Relaxed fit flip flops?

Hi,

Once upon a time, I ordered a pair of shoes online, and have been on the vendor's e-mail list ever since. I don't think even Midway or the variety of continued education providers I hear from this time of year can come close to the volume of stuff I get from the shoe guys. Normally I just delete it, but today out of curiosity, I opened one of their notes.

They're having a sale. Yawn. They have some Skechers fancy flip flops for only $45 or so. Yawn. But wait! Those flip flops are advertised as "relaxed fit!" Maybe someone can 'splain that one to me?

I remember a few years ago. I was walking onto a jobsite behind a couple of electricians & they were both complaining about their feet hurting. I asked what brand of boots & they told me (I don't remember the brand now). Then they both told me they had ordered their boots from online. I told them there are some things I believe you just have to try on before buying. Even if you know you have bought a pair in a certain size from a particular brand I have seen there be a clearly discernable difference in between the fit of two different pairs of boots from a major manufacturer that were both marked the same size.

Those Skechers sandals sound tempting but I guess I'll stick with my cheap Wal-Mart Croc knock offs for around the house.

A few years ago I bought some PRC made boots from K-Mart. The box was clearly marked in my size, as were the boots, but they were NOT in my size.
I have a pair of shoes I bought in a Goodwill. They are marked 9 1/2 B but they fit my 10 1/2 D foot just fine.

What vendor? I order shoes from Zappos, it’s probably been at least 8 years since I’ve bought shoes in a store. But Zappos only sends a few advertisement emails, not very often either.

I never understood "relaxed fit" shoes. Why not just get a bigger size?

I think "relaxed fit" may mean one-size-fits-most...

I have 2 pair of "Logger Type" boots that are brand stamped "Chippewa" (sp). Both assembled in different countries, NOT Missouri. I measured the, "Last forever Boot Strings" that are in both boots. They are the same length. But you cant lace the eyelets on the newer pair, but the original ones can be laced property at the top. There has to be a difference in the space between the front where the laces goes.. By the way boys those shoe laces are on Amazon and CAN NOT BE BEAT WITH A STICK.. The first set is over 5 years old and other than showing where I Tye the laces around the eyelets that's it..Fire proof also. They are the real deal...

I bought a pair of sneakers that were relaxed fit. They were just wider than usual. Why they didn’t say wide I don’t know. I don’t know how flip flops could be wide since they don’t have sides.

Hi,

If they do, let's go in for a group buy! One of mine can be asleep at the other end of the house, yet when I pull on the first shoe in the bedroom, he's right there to get the laces. Tying my shoes turns into blood sport when he gets too excited about the whole process and sinks a pawful of claws into either my hand or my leg... in other words, at least once a week, sometimes more. Ouch!

I can understand "relaxed fit" in jeans. It stands for "fat @$$", but, in shoes?

HEY; I have to look for a size too large in EXTRA WIDE to get shoes that fit; Guess I inherited fat feet from my Dad; he wore EEE's in the Navy !

Hi,

Kevin, this is Shoeline.com which I got linked to from the Carolina Boot website. Their service is good, prices are good, but they're a little over exuberant with their e-mails! The flip side of that is if they weren't, we might never have learned about "relaxed fit" flip flops!
