We made our traditional after-Christmas expedition to Reelfoot Lake last Wednesday, Dec. 28th looking for eagles and whatever else came into view. As I was driving down a trail in the Walnut Log area, I passed a canal and saw these two great egrets. Thought it made a nice scene:

I never got an opportunity to fish in Reelfoot when I was working in Union City at the Goodyear Tire Plant performing asbestos abatement over the course of two years. I talked to several workers at the plant about how good the Crappie fishing was out there on Reelfoot but never got to go.
I did get to go and birdwatch one Sunday and did see several Eagles and an amazing array of other waterfowl

One of the best lakes in Tennessee for Crappie fishing!

Now Goodyear is long gone, and the lake is getting smaller every year. They used to allow commercial crappie fishing on the lake, but finally outlawed it. It is a very nice place to go and relax.
