I'm thinking of swapping my new 44 Mag Super Redhawk for the 8 shot 357 Redhawk. Do you think this is a good idea? I also have a regular 5.5" 44Mag Redhawk, but I plan to keep it for now.

What do you want it to do? I prefer the grip(s) of the Super over the Redhawk, personally. But, then I do not own a 44 magnum, nor do I care to, so it could go. If it were 45 Colt I would say keep the Super. The 357 magnum is kind of a tweener for me, kinda light for big game and a bit of overkill for personal defense.

To each his own. I, too prefer the grip of the Super over the Redhawk. And I prefer the lockwork of the Super vs the Redhawk. And I really feel the Redhawk is too big a platform for the .357, even with the extra two rounds. But, if that's what you want, then go for it!

It’s a rather heavy gun for a 357, especially an eight shot. I don’t like shooting the 44 Magnum anymore so the 357 is just about right. I rather like my Blackhawk 44 special and GP 100 44 special.
