Recognize this guy?

I made this post early this morning but somehow it managed to disappear. I don't see any reason for that so here it is again?

This guy is Carl Higbie. He's a commentator on Newsmax. Anyone recognize the pin on his lapel? It's a Navy Seal pin. I wonder if CNN has any Navy Seals?

Hard to make the pin out but to me it's missing the pitch fork should see a fork on the lower right on the pin!

I enlarged the photo as much as I could. On a Seal pin, the pitchfork comes out about as far as half of the wing on top. It also touches the right side of the anchor. I believe I see the pitchfork there. Without it there would be a more visible empty space there.

There is just to low resolution in that picture to see it. Why would the handle be visible on the other side and not the three prongs?

I did not recognize him nor the name. I googled his name and it said he was a SEAL. 2 tours in the sand box, has written 3 books. Plus a lot more about him including photos.

Was a SEAL. Got booted from them. Received a "General" discharge. Apparently he is exactly a stellar character. Let's face it getting an Honorable Discharge only requires you show up and do what you're told. Any less than Honorable means you're a screw up, and not all that bright too boot.

I have no dog in this fight. I don't know the guy. But it said he was given an honorable discharge but later it was changed to general. I think it said he quit before his enlistment was up or something like that.

In other words they figured out he was a screw up after he left. Maybe he just spoke of things he should not have. As I said not too bright.

I was stationed with the seals for 7 years. deal was...you weren't suppose to use any form of items or dealings with seals to advertise and promote ones self after leaving service. you even had to sign a form. yet....there it is. much like many seals using the net and tv to promote themselves to this day.
deal is..if you need the seal name to boost yourself up, youre not worthy of whatever youre pursuing.
this is why I wont have anything to do with Blackhawk to this day.

Oh come on...how can it be stolen valor? He was a seal. You guys are pretty quick to condemn without knowing the complete story. How many of you were Seals? How many of you could even pass the entry qualifications of the Seals?

Maybe you should be thanking him instead of condemning him. So, is there some kind of rule that says they can't wear that pin after leaving the Seals?

I meant nothing personal towards you. I was speaking of the forum in general. We all talk about thanking a veteran for their service. But I see no one thanking this guy. They are just ready to condemn him for wearing that seal pin, even saying it's not a real pin due to the poor resonance of that picture. Remember, it's a picture I took of a TV screen. I figured that you guys would give him a little credit but I guess I was wrong. Sorry I figured wrong.

The guy was a Navy Seal. Why would he be wearing some kind of fake pin? I told you, I enlarged it as much as I could and it's a Seal Trident. I really don't care if you don't believe me. How about this picture. Is he still wearing that fake pin, I can't quite make it out. Or maybe Trump is just a cardboard cut out.

real and official are two separate items. an official one for uniforms is huge. they do make lapel pins. but, the way I understood it was, the lapel pin was for ACTDU in positions where a full fledged uniform was discouraged and 'suits' blended in better.

OK, I'm done. The guy is a big fake with stolen valor. I'm actually kind of shocked. I thought we had a different kind of crowd here. Guess I was wrong.

I still appreciate and honor all our vets, active or not.

I don't know anything about the person in question but I do know that is a trident on the SEAL pin, not a pitchfork. A pitchfork is an agricultural tool. A trident is a three pronged spear.

I admit I did not check up on him before I posted my comment which was a reaction to other posts. My bad, of course.

I have now done some research, and would suggest that anyone who cares do the same. He was a SEAL, so . . . no "stolen valor".

It’s that darned less than honorable discharge. Screwed up somewhere. And if booted from the SEALS is he entitled to where the pin. Or is it one that just sort of looks like one.
