Chad gave me some great insight on how to read the date codes (his answers in bold)

How do you read the date code on the Ruger manuals?
Examples:

#1 - Security/Speed/Police service Six code is KE&E/5-84 R3

I read it as a manual for both the Stainless and blued models, dated May 1984, revision 3 Yes, correct

#2 - Security/Speed/Police service Six code is E4/40/1-79

I figure Blued models, dated January 1979. I have no idea what the 4/40 after the E means E is the part code for DA parts, 4th revision, 40,000 printed

#3 - Security/Speed/Police service Six code is KE6/45/9-79

I figure Stainless models, dated September 1979 but again don't know what the 6/45 after the KE means 6th Revision, 45,000 printed

Last one for fun - No. 3 Single Shot Carbine code is SC6/12.5/12-78

I guess SC=single shot carbine, dated December 1978. But what does the 6/12.5 mean? 6th Revision, 12,500 printed

A couple of amazing things here.

1. How much info Ruger can and will pack into what many of us never notice or consider.
2. What a valuable resource Chad, his dad and RENE are!

Thanks for the follow up Ron. I wasn't ignoring you but did pull out a couple of my owners manuals to see what you were referring to!
