Picked up my new Mk IV last week and will be taking it to the range today for the first time. I will eventually mount an RDS on this pistol, most likely a Venom Vortex. Not looking for debates about irons vs optics but I would like input as to the pros and cons of mounting an RDS using the picatinny rail vs direct mount (removing the rail). Hopefully someone has already tried it both ways and feels strongly about one vs the other. I have two other .22lr pistols with RDS so I'm familiar with using them.

I prefer to use the rail.
Why?
Because in MY hands,, and with MY grip,, it aligns quicker & easier. BUT,, each person has a different grip & all. What works best for me may not work for you.
