Rcbs 452 325 .458

You guys ever use the rcbs 452 325 .458 in nm blackhawk ? What steps do you have to take to size it down to .452/.454? Will the crimp groove be in the right spot . Accurate? Thanks.http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=0004482045

I have not shot the RCBS but am planning to shoot the Lee 340 when I am able to get things going. I have mine sized at .452 with plenty of lube groove left. They fill the cylinder nicely. There was a fellow at MarlinOwners doing the same.

Have shot Lyman 457191 292 gr sized down to .454" with satisfactory results in my NMBH .45LC....
Have some 457122 "Gould" hollowpoints with the same treatment loaded up too but haven't tested them yet...
Haven't used that RCBS design, don't know....(I'm saving for an LBT 340 gr WFN mold :wink

Truthfully, since I acquired a MP 270 SAA mold that drops a beautiful 275-290 gr bullets (depending on nose pin) I don't feel the need to mess with squeezed down rifle bullets much anymore...

Be very careful with seating depth/high pressures! :shock:

I use the Lee 340 and size to .454. Plenty of lube grooves left and like was said fills the cylinder nicely. I size in one step very easily and it is by far the most accurate I shoot out of both my .45's

Thanks for the help fellows. I had looked at .458 molds just in case .452 was to small. So you guys sized from .458 to .452 in one step? Is the another heavy 45 colt mold I should be looking at? Thanks again.

I went from 458 to 454 to 452. Lubed with LLA. You can't get much less expensive than a LEE mold. BigBoreDad says they shoot well. I have heard this before. I am thinking H110 for this one.

Rooterpig are you set up to size and lube cast bullets?

I have some heavy for caliber that I shoot out of my Rugers in 45 Colt. I have two styles at 325gr. They are an LBTWFNGC and a LBTLFNGC. I can also make the LFNGC in a HP version that weighs around 310gr or so.

I size all my bullets to .454 for all my Rugers and its a piece of cake in one step. I have yet to find a load that wont do at least 2 inches from 25 yards and most do better. It doesn't matter if it 9 hrains of unique for a very easy fun shooting load or 15.5 of 2400 that's another easy shootin load or 13-gr of hs-6 another easy shooting load all of these loads will do over 1000 and if you want rompin stompin loads that breathe fire and shake the ground and do 1250-1300+ well those group as well. I use range lead which is real close to wheel weights I let them air cool for a day then size them. I get no leading and I just have fun. I enjoy them so much I am selling some other molds so I can buy a custom brass mold that casts a very nice 340fn
